October is such a fun month! Always filled with lots of fun Fall activities. This year we went to Wichita's Botanical garden for BOOtanical. It was a lot of fun. My parents and brother were in town so they helped us pick out pumpkins and we all had a great time decorating them. Then the next weekend we went to Night of the Living Zoo, which was great! Landon loved seeing everybody all dressed up and enjoyed the candy they passed out. Then the weekend after that we went to our church for Trunk-or-Treat. Landon couldn't figure out how to say "trick-or-treat" so he would go up to each car, stick his hand out and say "hungry" and then when I would tell him "say thank you" he would reply "OK!" with a big grin. Haha close enough.. he is really good at saying "please" but we are still working on properly saying "thank you." On the day of Halloween we went to church like normal, and instead of going out trick-or-treating we stayed home, made Halloween sugar cookies and "Mummy" pizzas and then had our church's missionaries over for a chili dinner. All in all I felt like we had a super fun-filled October with a great fill of Halloween festivities!
Landon designed his pumpkin himself! He picked the pumpkin out at Boo-tanical and then with the help of Starfall.com's interactive jack-o-lantern page he picked out the eyes, nose and mouth. Of course Mom did all the cutting this year.
Landon as a Pirate! He Loved his sword!
The day we went to the Zoo, we went for a family hike in nearby woods. Landon was a little hesitant about walking around on uneven ground. So we turned it into a game of chasing mom. Well he got so excited that he ran straight into a tree branch sticking straight out! Poor guy! He was pretty bloody, we were just grateful it didn't poke him in the eye. While standing in line to get into the Zoo one little boy asked us if the scar on his face was makeup, haha. It added some fun to his costume.
Luckily Landon's face healed very quickly! This picture is from the day of Halloween, they matched so of course we had to take a picture! I just adore these guys!!! They are my life!
Well, I just wanted to quickly blog about October before we got to much into November! Ethan and I were just talking the other night about how much we love the Holidays! This has to be my favorite time of the year. We already have a busy couple of months ahead of us that is full of family time :). In a couple weeks we are going to Atlanta, Ethan has training for work there and I have my family! It's a long overdue trip considering my bestest is there and I have yet to have visited. Then comes Thanksgiving! This will be our first Thanksgiving as a married couple that we won't be spending it with Ethan's family, which we are sad about. It feels strange not being in Kentucky, its always so gorgeous this time of year, which we really miss as well. But it will be the first time in 5 years that I will be with my family for Thanksgiving, and if there is one thing I know about my parents, its that they keep things traditional, so I can already smell and taste exactly what will be on the table, yum! Then Ethan's parents come to visit us, which means our Christmas celebration will start first thing in December! We are really looking forward to seeing and spending time with them. We've never gone this long without seeing them! Living in a different state then any of our family has been a different experience. It has strengthened our little family bond, making us rely on each other for comfort and strength that much more. And has given us a greater appreciation for our extended family!
